The Cessna 172 personal aircraft is a single engine high wing design. It is arguably the most popular light aircraft of all time. It is a popular aircraft for private pilots and flying schools. The US Army and Air Force use a model of Cessna 172 as their trainer and the US Border Patrol uses Cessna 172 for border surveillance.
The Cessna 172 is a triple wheeled version of the previous designs which were tail wheeled models. It was first built in the 1950s and has been popular ever since. Of course the electronics and interiors have been updated regularly over the years. Production continues to this day and will in the near future boast 50,000 units built.
The Cessna 172 has a maximum seating capacity of four which includes one or two pilots. It is powered by a single Lycoming engine and is now available in a turbo diesel. The wingspan is just over 36 feet. Range is 600 miles and take off is below 1700 feet.
The Cessna 172 is practical and reliable. It has an excellent safety record and is forgiving to fly. It has an excellent service network around the world so no matter where you go Cessna service is there.
